Auto Chess Comes to PS5 with Exclusive Enhancements

Auto Chess, the popular Dota 2 mod turned standalone game, is making its way to PlayStation 5 this month, bringing with it a host of console-exclusive features. After successfully launching on PS4 last fall, the game has now expanded its reach to console players, providing them with the competitive experience they’ve been waiting for.

New Features and Exclusive Content

Arriving on March 30, Auto Chess on PS5 is more than just a simple port. The game has been enhanced specifically for the console, offering players a unique and immersive experience. One of the biggest additions is the introduction of a new chess player named Date Masamune, an armored warrior exclusive to PlayStation. Players can download Date Masamune from PSN, although it is unclear at this time whether he will be available for free or as a paid DLC.

In addition to the new character, Auto Chess takes advantage of the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback technology, providing players with vibrations that correspond to their in-game actions, such as making a good move or achieving victory. The game’s graphics have also been improved for the PS5, and load times have been significantly reduced, ensuring that players can dive into matches without delay. Furthermore, Auto Chess on PS5 features full cross-play functionality, allowing players to compete against opponents on PS4, PC, and mobile devices. Plus, players can transfer their save data from the PS4 version to the PS5 version seamlessly.

Season 11: The Legend of the Lamp Witch

Publisher Dragonest has also announced the launch of Season 11 of Auto Chess, titled “The Legend of the Lamp Witch,” which begins on March 28. This exciting new season introduces fresh challenges for players, along with a new chess piece called Space Walker. Inspired by the legend of the Monkey King, Space Walker balances the Beast race with the Martialist Class, adding an extra layer of strategic depth to the game.

The Rise of Auto Battlers

Auto Chess originated as a mod for Dota 2, created by the Chinese developer Drodo Studio in early 2019. Combining elements of chess and MOBAs, Auto Chess quickly gained popularity and revolutionized the auto battler genre. Other game developers, such as Riot and Blizzard, followed suit with their own versions of the subgenre, including Teamfight Tactics and Hearthstone’s Battlegrounds, respectively. Meanwhile, Drodo Studio released Auto Chess as a standalone game, and Valve introduced Dota Underlords, its officially licensed Dota auto battler.

While the hype surrounding auto battlers may have diminished in the past year, the arrival of Auto Chess on PS5 is exciting news for console players looking to explore this unique genre. If you’re curious about what auto battlers have to offer, now is the perfect time to dive in and experience the thrill for yourself.
