Auction To Support Japan: Autographed Nintendo DS by Industry Icons

Nintendo DS

Hey everyone! I have an amazing opportunity to raise funds for the relief efforts in Japan. I’m auctioning off my cherished possession, an autographed Nintendo DS, signed by some of the biggest names in the gaming industry.

The Story Behind the Nintendo DS

Back in 2007, I attended my first Game Developers Conference (GDC) and had the privilege of presenting awards during the Game Audio Network Guild ceremony. It was there that I met gaming legends like Shigeru Miyamoto, Koji Kondo, Charles Martinet, Eiji Aonuma, and Martin Leung. I asked each of them to sign my Nintendo DS, and it has since become a treasured keepsake.

A Collector’s Item for Gamers

This Nintendo DS is a one-of-a-kind collector’s item. It’s an original model in red, adorned with a Mario Kart sticker on the front and four similar stickers on the inside. Though it shows slight wear from previous use, it has been carefully preserved. Please refer to the images provided for a closer look.

The Industry Icons’ Signatures

The signatures on this Nintendo DS represent some of the most influential figures in the gaming industry:

  • Shigeru Miyamoto: The creator of iconic video game characters like Mario, Donkey Kong, and Link from The Legend of Zelda.
  • Koji Kondo: A legendary video game composer known for his work on the Mario and Zelda series, among others.
  • Charles Martinet: The official voice actor for Mario since 1995, as well as Luigi, Wario, and Waluigi.
  • Eiji Aonuma: A video game designer and director who oversaw several titles in The Legend of Zelda series.
  • Martin Leung: Known as the “Video Game Pianist,” Martin gained fame for his blindfolded performances of the Super Mario Bros theme and now tours the world with Video Games Live.

Support the Relief Efforts in Japan

I’m auctioning this Nintendo DS to raise funds for the relief efforts in Japan. The full proceeds from this auction will be donated to the Red Cross. Rest assured, I will provide public proof of the donation as soon as the auction concludes.

How to Participate

If you’re interested in owning this unique collector’s item and contributing to a worthy cause, you can find the auction here. Please share this link with anyone you think may be interested.

Please note that the auction does not include a charger for the DS, as handling it may degrade the quality of the signatures. However, if the buyer desires, I can track down a charger. I highly recommend keeping the Nintendo DS in a glass case, similar to how I have preserved it over the years.

If you have any questions about the item or the auction, feel free to contact me. Thank you for your support in helping the people of Japan during this challenging time.
